Frequently Asked Questions

ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Will I have to pay Duties/Taxes?

If you are ordering from within the European Union then No.

If you are ordering from the UK, whilst we have signed up with HMRC in the UK and have done everything they require to insure you receive no further charges on arrival we are noticing that about 10% of our packages are being stopped and the customer is being asked for duties and VAT payments. This is an inefficiency in the UK system that we cannot be held responsible for. If further duties and taxes are charged these will have to be paid for by the recipient.

If you are ordering from within the United States, as a rule if your order value is under $800 you will not have to pay import duties or tariffs. The Big man is talking about changing that but if he does we will notify you here when it happens.

Do I have to pay to return an item?

Typically, yes. Remember, when ordering a belt use your actual jeans size to order. Returns can be done by Post or in-store. You can view our full return policy HERE

Yes. We manufacture all of our own brand mishnóc products at our leather workshop in Athenry, Co-Galway. We do sell some third party leather goods on our website which are made overseas and in our bricks and mortar store in Galway city but these are clearly pointed out.

Do you make bespoke products?

As a rule, no. Prototyping products is a time consuming inefficient way of producing 1 item.

Sunday Closed,  Bank Holidays  11am – 5pm Closed for lunch 1.30 – 2pm

Can I visit your leather workshop?

No, it’s not setup for visitors. You can visit our retail store in Galway City.

Why do you make things from leather - isn’t it bad for the environment and unfair on animals?

All of the leather used by us is a by product of the meat industry and no animal is farmed for it’s hide. Creating a demand for higher quality leathers leads to high animal welfare standards as any marks on the skin caused by bad handling or conditions denigrates the hide to a bad grade leather.

Products made from leather last longer and with care improve with age. This helps to fight the blight that is “Fast Fashion”. Cheap fake or vegan leather products are all made from polyurethane (pu) a by product of the petro chemical industry. It is extremely cheap and allows bag and accessory makers to produce low quality throw away fashion. It all ultimately ends up in our land fills and oceans, it can take in excess of 500 years to break down

Do you use Irish Leather?

Currently there are no companies in Ireland tanning leather. All of Ireland’s raw hides are exported for tanning to other countries. Irish hides are highly sought after by European Tanners as the quality is very high due to high animal welfare standards practiced in farming here. We only use the highest quality cow leather that has been tanned in European tanneries.

Do you offer a repair service?

Currently we only offer a repair service to customers who have originally purchased their product from us. Email Mark on mark@mishnoc.com to book in your repair.
